Noir Photo App Reviews

I love black and white photography and this is my favorite way of producing black and white images from my iPhone. The developer put a lot of time and care into the interface, which is usually something that goes unappreciated. There are similar apps and there is iPhones native filters but I prefer the results I get from this app.

But THANK YOU FOR REVIVING A FAVORITE APP OF MINE THAT I USED TO USE DAILY UNTIL MY DEVICES IOS (4) GOT LEFT BEHIND. WHAT A WASTE of money for that thing and to be shut out of creativity because of it means GREED killed my creativity and it wasnt even my own. So at least your hearts remain honorable....but wait....I had to buy an Iphone6s plus to even leave this review. Thanks Apple. Steve Jobs would be proud.... ... ...

With this update the app was rendered useless, crashing on my iPad Air and iPad Pro, regardless of image size (3.5 - 24m tested). Contacted the developer and they have identified the issue and are submitting a fix to Apple for review.

While Im not a professional photographer, occasionally I do paid work and take photography seriously even when just using my phone. I have also owned dozens of photo apps over the years and this is the only one that has survived the test of time. I have done testing trying to replicate in other apps what Noir Photo can do and nothing compares to the elegant processing and smoothness it creates easily. It is a must have if you are into B&W photography. -- THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU for the 2016 update.

At first the app wouldnt crash, now all of a sudden, after editing a photo, the app crashes when SAVING the photo. Fix this this!

I loooooooove this app. It is one of my favorite apps. Takes some playing around with it but it does beautiful picts. Thanks for the updates to full view in edit mode. May not be for everyone but still awesome!!!!

Nice app, but it needs to add a "Grain" feature...

For $3 you get an app that will let you moody-up all your photos. As simple as any, learning it is intuitive. Does what it says and does it to my simplistic satisfaction. 5 Stars.

Is there anyway to upload photos from IPad? Or am I missing it?

At 0.99 this would be decent but at 2.99 it is way too limiting. There HAS to be a way to adjust the tint. How hard would it have been to have a color picker, opacity control for overall effect, and a way to show/save more than 6 presets? Nice start but it is too limited for everyday use.

Easily makes dramatic looking pictures with fine control of light sources. Highly recommended! Please add an option to make custom hues. Great app!

If you ever need proof of what a powerful machine youre holding in your hands, get this app. Truly stunning. Its as if the objects in my photographs are 3D and I am literally moving the lift source around them. This app is a must get.

This has quickly turned into one of my favorite photo apps. However, there should be a couple additions before it earns 5 stars. Social network sharing for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. There should also be a built in camera so you dont have to use two apps to take one photo. Better UI design would be a plus too. Keep up the good work!

A great app for creating dramatic or moody noir pictures.

This is a $2.99 app with $.49 features. Whats available can all be easily accomplished with any of a dozen free apps... and theyll let you share from within the app. This one makes you use one app to take the picture, another to modify it, and a third to share it... I guess thats why its $3. Save your money until this app is updated and ready for prime time. I wish Id waited...

Terribly overpriced and overrated. Essentially, Noir is a vignette manipulation app. It offers 6 preconfigured vignette modes. Each has a slightly different color or tone all with a vintage feel. Once youve chosen a vignette mode, you can place the vignette wherever you like and expand or contract it. You are limited to an oval vignette profile. Other then vignette size, you can only make three modifications to your image, contrast inside the vignette oval, contrast outside, and overall contrast. No independent white or black levels, no ability to add grain. These basic features are strangely missing from an app billed as a "black and white" powerhouse. Ultimately, if youre looking for a monochrome app, youll get broader tools in most other apps, including free apps. The worst part is that Noir does not save images at full resolution. Max res is 3m. Nowhere in the description is this listed.

It would be perfect but wont let you save in original color. You will only have the choice of monochrome. Hopefully an update is coming.
